Our body is a machine. It needs the right combination of inputs to reach the ultimate output.
Basically put:
Desired/Optimum Output = Training (Intensity vs Duration vs Frequency) + Technical Development + Race Relevant Practice + Experience + Nutrition + Recovery + Mental Preparation + 3rd Party Elements (Outside Stresses, Equipment, Travel etc).
