During that week in Augsburg we had the opportunity to train with some of the best paddlers in the world such as former World Champion Fabien Dorfler as well as other top German paddlers.
Europe 2009
We arrived in Augsburg, Germany, on the 1/6/09. After more than 24 hours of travelling I was dead tired. But there is no better pick me up than unwrapping a new boat. Probably the coolest boat ever! After a day fitting out my new boat it was time to take her for a spin. Spin being the appropriate word to describe that first paddle, I have never been in a boat that turns that fast. During that week in Augsburg we had the opportunity to train with some of the best paddlers in the world such as former World Champion Fabien Dorfler as well as other top German paddlers. It was great training with the Germans on their home course because they taught us some of the tricks on the course. This will be very valuable when we race in the last World Cup in Augsburg in a month.
To warm up for the World Cup series, we decided to race at the international ranking race in Foix, France. Foix is located in the South West of France at the base of the Pyrenees. The water is icy so even when its warm you still need to wear a long sleeve cag. Foix will be the venue for the 2010 Junior World Championships. The Australian Junior Team, including Seb Ewing, are also in Foix preparing for next years race. Qualifications are tomorrow then semis and finals are on Sunday.
I’ll let you know how it goes.
