World Championships Start Today

The 2009 Flatwater World Championships commence today in Halifax, Canada.
WA has its best representation ever this year, taking up 3 of the places on the team with Reece Baker (BPC), Lisa Russ (CRCC) and Alana Nicholls (BPC) representing.

Lisa and Alana will represent Australian in the WK4 500m and WK4 200m, with 3 of the Bronze medal winning crew from Beijing back in the boat this year. Alana will also have a berth in the WK1 200m.

Reece will also be representing Australia in the Men’s K4 1000m and K2 200m. A boat that performed strongly in the lead-up World Cup regattas.

Australia has fantastic team this year less than 12 months after the Beijing Olympics. Both Men’s K2 crews have performed exceptionally well this season and Ken Wallace continues his fine form that earned him 2 Olympic Medals last August.
