State Marathon Championships

Congratulations to all who competed in the State Marathon Championships last weekend.
The Championships were held on Saturday and Sunday at Shelley.
Stu Moriarty once again laid the challenge down to the Long Plastics division and then back up this win with a respectable 2nd place in the Double Ski division partnered up with Mick Mantell.
A special mention to Precision Paddling athlete, Brendan Rice who won both the K1 and K2 categories this weekend.
Sunday was also a great day for some younger paddlers. Brennan Edwards claimed silver in the U12 Guppy class behind Ben Harris over a 6km course. Brennan trains paddlers under the guidance of Ty Stedman as part of the after-school paddling program offered to primary students.
The next race on the calendar is the Capel Descent (21 June 09), followed by the Upper Swan Marathon (28 June 09).
